Italian born and trained, Chef Alberto Gazzola brings the essence of northern Italian cuisine to La Vecchia's table.

Fresh, house made pastas, meat and seafood dishes and desserts reflect the culinary traditions of northern Italy – with a twist. While the menu features favorites like Linguine Vongole (linguini with clams) and Pollo Piccata (chicken in lemon caper sauce), traditional dishes are often transformed in Alberto's hands producing innovative new flavors.

La Vecchia's daily specials are often the testing grounds for new dishes and culinary experimentation using the freshest, most seasonal ingredients. What you can always count on is delicious handmade food, based in the traditions of northern Italy.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is available for private parties and events. La Vecchia also offers off-site catering.

HISTORY
Named for the town the owner grew up in, La Vecchia was first opened as La Vecchia Varese (the Old Varese) on West Street in downtown Reno. Not only did owner Alberto Gazzola develop his love for regional Italian cuisine in the town of Varese, he worked as a chef in a restaurant of the same name.

Over time, friends and customers dropped the ‘Varese’ and the restaurant became known simply as La Vecchia. While charming and well-loved, the downtown location was quite small and in 2000 the restaurant moved to its current larger location on the corner of Virginia and Moana.

In La Vecchia's current location at 3501 South Virginia Street, Chef Alberto and his team can better meet the needs of an ever-growing customer base, large parties and a variety of events.
